Nissan earns 2018 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award for seventh consecutive year in the U.S.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nissan North America has been recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency with the 2018 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award, the highest honor given to organizations dedicated to protecting the environment by making their operations more energy efficient.

This marks the seventh consecutive year EPA has recognized Nissan for its continued commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving energy management at its U.S. facilities.

"Awards like the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year let us know we are moving in the right direction with our sustainable manufacturing practices," said Rebecca Vest, vice president, Corporate Development and Social Responsibility. "Our approach is a comprehensive one, focused on maximizing efficiency and reducing energy waste in our manufacturing facilities, all while continuing to deliver the products our customers expect."

Nissan's efforts to reduce energy usage include switching to more efficient technologies like LED lighting, engaging all employees in energy management, and including energy efficiency in design, such as an environmentally friendly paint process that has cut energy usage by more than 30%.

With a strong commitment to bettering communities where it does business, Nissan has used its expertise to help Middle Tennessee and Central Mississippi schools with their energy-saving initiatives. Over a 12-year period, the majority of schools in Mississippi's Rankin County Public School District now are ENERGY STAR® certified.
