From smart renewable energy to crowdfunding: the highlights of the accompanying program at Intersolar Europe 2016

Comunicato Stampa disponibile solo in lingua originale.

February 22, 2016 – From June 22–24, 2016, manufacturers, suppliers, distributors and service providers are once again meeting at the world’s leading exhibition for the solar industry and its partners – #intersolareurope. The exhibition and its comprehensive accompanying program focus on the newest trends, services and products for the energy supply of the future. The Innovation and Application Forum provides information on current topics, from the operation of PV installations to the latest business models for marketing solar power. In the new Smart Renewable Energy Forum, visitors will learn everything they need to know about the technologies and systems for smart energy supply. The #intersolareurope Conference addresses current topics such as financing models for PV installations, hybrid power plants and the situation across international markets. In 2016, the prestigious #intersolar AWARD is once again honoring innovative technologies and projects.

Solar and smart – that’s what modern energy supply looks like. Digitalizing the energy industry and connecting various technologies are the essential challenges of a modern and sustainable infrastructure. Visitors can learn everything they need to know about the technologies required to face these challenges at the Smart Renewable Energy Forum (hall B2, booth B2.131), which is taking place at #intersolareurope for the first time. Several sessions at the #intersolareurope Conference also shed light on the topic of smart energy systems. The changing energy market forms the backdrop to #intersolareurope, which is taking place from June 22–24 at the Messe München this year.

Current market situation: Global growth expected to exceed that of 2015

Prospects for the global solar industry are sunny. According to GTM Research, a market research institute located in Boston, Massachusetts (USA), 59 gigawatts of photovoltaic capacity were installed in 2015, a third more than in the previous year. This year, the total installed capacity worldwide is expected to increase from 64 to 321 gigawatts. According to GTM Research, especially strong growth is expected in the USA and China this year. One of the reasons for this is the extension of the Investment Tax Credit, an incentive program in the USA which led to a boom in the American solar industry.

Awards for innovation: #intersolar AWARD

In 2016, the prestigious #intersolar AWARD is once again honoring pioneering innovations in the Photovoltaics category. 2016 also marks the debut of the Outstanding Solar Projects category for projects that set a particularly inspiring example in driving the global energy transition forward. The existing categories, which previously honored projects in Europe, North America and India are being combined so that in the future, the #intersolar AWARD for solar projects will be presented at the global level. Along with exhibitors at #intersolar exhibitions, the owners of the projects are also eligible for the first time. The ceremony begins on Wednesday, June 22 at 4:30 pm at the Innovation and Application Forum (hall A2, A2.530). Prior to the ceremony, the nominated companies will give short presentations of their solutions and products to the public. Visitors to the Innovation and Application Forum will also learn everything they need to know about industry trends. Key topics include Operation & Maintenance of PV Installations (June 23) as well as Power to Heat (June 24), which looks at using electricity to generate heat. In addition, the organizers are collaborating with the German-French Office of Renewable Energy to shed light on the topic of direct marketing and calls for tenders in Germany and France (June 23).

Intersolar Europe Conference: From leasing to crowdfunding

The #intersolareurope Conference takes place in parallel to #intersolareurope on June 21 and 22 at the ICM – Internationales Congress Center München. One of the main areas of focus of this year’s program are financing models for PV installations. Experts will discuss the outlook for solar installation leasing in Europe and the advantages and disadvantages of innovative forms of financing such as crowdfunding as compared to established citizen participation schemes. An overview of the global and regional photovoltaics markets as well as PV power plants is also on the agenda. In addition, smart renewable energy will play an important role at the conference.

Special exhibits on e-mobility and wind power

The Smart Renewable Energy Forum is not the only way that #intersolareurope lives up to its promise to bring together players in international energy supply. The special exhibit Wind meets Solar and Energy Storage (hall B2, B2.283) also shows visitors economic and technical solutions for combining solar and wind energy. The special exhibit E-Mobility & Renewable Energy (Hall B1, booth B1.190) will address the hot topic of e-mobility – because electric vehicles not only offer the promise of sustainable mobility, they also have enormous potential to be integrated into the smart power grid of the future.

ees Europe Conference: Integrating storage systems into smart homes

ees Europe, the continent’s largest exhibition for batteries and energy storage systems, is taking place in parallel to #intersolareurope. The exhibition has established itself as the industry platform for suppliers, manufacturers, distributors and users of stationary and mobile energy storage solutions. This year it is dedicated to the profitability and performance of batteries as well as new technologies for energy storage systems. Following last year’s inaugural conference, the ees Europe Conference takes place again in 2016. Among the topics addressed by the presentations on June 21 and 22 are the security and reliability of storage solutions as well as their integration into smart home concepts.
