AGL continues to progress Silverton Wind Farm

AGL #energy Limited (AGL) remains committed to the #silverton Wind Farm project in far west New South Wales (NSW) and is continuing to progress development activities with the re-issuing of the construction tender.

AGL’s #silverton Wind Farm project manager, Adam Mackett, said the reissuing of the tender is another step forward for the project.

“We have released tender documents to a shortlist of tenderers and are also currently conducting tenderer site inspections. Tender submissions are due by 6 June 2016 and those interested have been asked to tender on a wind farm initially proposed to have a capacity of up to 200 MW,” explained Mr Mackett.

AGL has also submitted to the NSW Department of Planning and Environment the final submissions report for a five year extension of the project approval.

“There is still a long way to go and consulting with the community throughout the process is a vital ingredient. A final decision on whether the project proceeds to construction will depend on several factors including the results of the tender, the final scope of the project, further development activities, and financing arrangements,” Mr Mackett said.

Local residents are invited to attend the next #silverton Wind Farm Community Consultative Committee meeting on Thursday 28 April, from 6pm at the #silverton Youth Hall. The meeting is an opportunity to be updated on the project’s next steps and ask questions.

The #silverton Wind Farm is initially proposed to have a capacity of up to 200 MW and will produce approximately 700,000 MWh of renewable #energy annually, which can power more than 120,000 average Australian homes. The renewable #energy produced will reduce CO2 emissions by 580,000 tonnes annually, which is the equivalent of taking 170,000 cars off the road each year.
