On the road to success with e-performance

The new, performance-oriented hybrid strategy introduced with the current Panamera generation exceeds all expectations of the Zuffenhausen based sports car manufacturer. “Customers are very pleased with the hybrid models. In Europe, around 60 percent of all vehicles in the Panamera series have been delivered with hybrid drive since the market launch”, says Detlev von Platen, Member of the Board of Management of #Porsche AG, Sales and Marketing.

Sustainability and driving pleasure – no contradiction at Porsche

At #Porsche, hybrid not only stands for sustainable mobility, but also for performance. This is demonstrated by the series of three consecutive victories of the 919 Hybrid in the Le Mans 24-hour race between 2015 and 2017, a philosophy that also characterises the Panamera's plug-in hybrid models. #Porsche uses a hybrid strategy adapted from the #918Spyder super sports car. The electric power – 100 kW (136 hp; fuel consumption combined 3.0 – 2.5 l/100 km; COemissions 69 – 56 g/km; electricity consumption (combined) 17.6 – 15.9 kWh/100 km) and 400 Nm of torque – is available for all Panamera hybrid derivatives from the moment the accelerator pedal is pressed for the first time. Analogue to the #918Spyder, the electric motor provides permanent additional thrust. In combination with the performance characteristics of the 2.9-litre V6 biturbo (243 kW/330 hp; fuel consumption combined 2.5 l/100 km; CO2 emissions 56 g/km; electricity consumption (combined) 15.9 kWh/100 km) engine in the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid and the 4.0-litre V8 biturbo (404 kW/550 hp; fuel consumption combined 2.9 l/100 km; CO2 emissions 66 g/km; electricity consumption (combined) 16.2 kWh/100 km) engine in the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, this results in an impressive boost scenario of e-machine and turbochargers.

Eight top-class media from Germany, France, Great Britain, the USA and China now had the opportunity to learn about Porsche's hybrid strategy on the road and on the Portimao racetrack. The two Le Mans winners Neel Jani and Timo Bernhard were instructors and offered taxi rides in the #918Spyder and the #panameraturbosehybridsportturismo. The result of the trackdays can be seen here:
