The STEYR^® Traktoren offering for the municipality sector has been strengthened with the launch of a new 280hp (maximum) 6280 flagship model for the Absolut CVT tractor range, and an innovative development of the AGXTEND XPower XPA system, powered by Zasso, which makes possible electrical weed control in inaccessible areas.  

New #steyr 6280 Absolut CVT meets municipal demands for more power

Producing an unboosted 280hp and a maximum 302hp with boost for PTO and transport tasks, the new #steyr 6280 Absolut CVT has been introduced in response to demand for more power and tractor capability from users across the municipal and landscaping sectors. More than simply an extension of the existing Absolut CVT range, the 6280 features a new premium cab that is eight per cent larger than its predecessor and has an interior noise level of just 66 dB(A). Integration of S-Fleet telematics means that, via the MySteyr online portal, tractor operating date is recorded in real time and is instantly accessible via a PC or mobile device for immediate or future use. With the owner’s permission, #steyr dealers can also provide assistance to drivers using S-Fleet Remote View, and can even remotely install software updates.

The 6280 Absolut CVT also features new patented S-Comfort synchronised damping technology, which optimally synchronises the front axle and cab suspension and rear linkage damping to automatically minimise shock transfer. Further features include patented #steyr S-Brake trailed implement braking activation, engine braking and optional factory-fit #steyr central tyre inflation.

Two-way communication between the tractor and attached implement is possible via Tractor Implement Management (TIM), a cross-product and manufacturer ISOBUS-based communication system. With TIM, compatible implements and certain tractor functions – such as vehicle speed and steering – can be controlled automatically, to optimise productivity and efficiency.

Time-tested equipment for municipal applications

The new 6280 Absolut CVT, like other #steyr municipal tractors such as the Kompakt, Multi, Expert CVT, Profi or Impuls CVT series, is available with a municipal frame with Euro III system adapter, designed for year-round operation to eliminate the need for seasonal changeovers of attachment systems. A modular design with integrated hitch and removable tabs for implement pivot screw connections is complemented by strong construction, with protection from torsional forces and full rear axle support, to maximise operational safety and flexibility. There is also the option to order the tractor from the factory with a front loader. Up to six hydraulic connections, optional offset transmission, front axle support with level control, front three-point hitch and other extras such as a QKMS cross-traffic monitor system and heated front and rear windows for winter operation are optionally available.

AGXTEND XPower XPA system for electric weed control

AGXTEND XPower XPA, powered by Zasso, combines the established capabilities of the XPower XPU unit with the versatility of a hydraulic arm, allowing the benefits of this weed control solution to be extended to hard-to-access areas such as embankments or alongside/beneath guard rails. With a 1.2m working width, a working speed of 1.0-5.0 km/h and an 8,000-volt capacity to instantly incapacitate weeds, including invasive plants and chemical-resistant weeds, the system provides fast and effective control in an environmentally responsible manner.

The hydraulic arm (developed, manufactured, and installed by Group Verschueren) that can be supplied with the XPA system is compatible with tractors of 200hp and above that have the dimensions and weight to be able to handle a large operating radius with a range of up to 7.2m from the centre of the tractor to the centre of the XPA unit. Full integration of the hydraulic arm into the tractor frame ensures maximum stability, with comfortable and precise operation via electrical proportional control. The 360-degree control head with automatic levelling function and special XPower safety features helps ensure safe and efficient operation.
