The #manchestercity First Team will debut its new away kit in Los Angeles as part of the International Champions Cup on July 26.
The club’s pre-season tour of the USA for the International Champions Cup has already seen noteworthy performances from individuals (especially #philfoden, the 17-year-old homegrown midfielder who had an impressive performance during his very first match with the team in Houston), and continues apace with the launch of the new kit. The match on the 26th will see newly signed full-back Danilo join up with attacking star #leroysane and new goalkeeper #ederson.
While new talent highlights the club's foray into the California sunshine, Manchester City’s heritage is evident in the new kit's distinctive head-to-toe maroon look. Shades of maroon have recurred throughout the club’s kits over the years. Notably, the 1956 FA Cup Final winning team wore a dark maroon jersey with white pinstripes, and the 1967-68 League title-winning side’s kit incorporated maroon detailing (as alluded to in the 2017-18 Home kit).
Tying into the club’s iconic home colors, the 2017-18 away shirt and socks include a trim in Manchester City’s signature blue.
