CDP today named Nissan to its 2019 water security `A List’ of leading companies. The organization commended Nissan for efforts including:
Water scarcity is one of four key pillars in the Nissan Green Program, the company’s mid-term environmental strategy.
“Water security is an important part of our ongoing environmental sustainability efforts,” Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida said. “We’re working to reduce water intake at plants and improve wastewater recycling efficiency. It’s very gratifying to see both our water security and our climate change initiatives recognized by CDP. We will continue to work hard, alongside our suppliers and other stakeholders, to make progress in this area.”
Last month, CDP also placed Nissan on its A List of companies leading the fight against climate change. This is the first time Nissan has been included in CDP’s ‘A List’ in both categories.
CDP’s annual environmental disclosure and scoring process is widely recognized as the gold standard for corporate environmental transparency. More than 525 investors, holding more than $96 trillion in assets, and 125 major purchasers representing $3.6 trillion in procurement spending asked companies to disclose data on environmental impacts, risks and opportunities through CDP’s platform in 2019. More than 8,400 companies responded.
