LEVC receives advanced propulsion centre funding for future ev technology development

£9m APC Government funding awarded to a consortium led by London Electric Vehicle Company

Project ‘EVE’ (Electric Vehicle Evolution) will focus on the research and development of future electric vehicle technology for #levc products

LEVC is the only dedicated production facility for electric vehicles in the UK

Ansty, Coventry, 23 June 2020 – London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC) has received a multi-million-pound grant to further the development of electric vehicle technology.

LEVC will lead a consortium of UK industry and research institutions in the design, build and manufacture of new #ev technology. The Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC), a joint venture between UK government and the #automotive industry which seeks to make the UK a centre of excellence in low emission vehicles, has released £9m-worth of funding to this project.

Joerg Hofmann, #levc CEO, commented:The UK government’s investment in the London Electric Vehicle Company’s APC R&D project is crucial in accelerating the development of next-generation electric vehicle technology for our range of products. It will also support growth in the capability of the UK supply chain, and further strengthen our position as the only dedicated electric vehicle manufacturing facility in the UK’

APC’s goal is to aid development of the UK’s ‘low carbon #automotive capability’, improving productivity and competitiveness of low and zero tailpipe-emission capable vehicles.

Jon Beasley Director of Technology and Projects says: “The work being done by #levc to progress the UK’s road to zero emissions by 2050 is fantastic. We are excited to be working with them on this project and are confident that these advances in electric vehicle technology will take us both further towards achieving this goal.”

LEVC’s Ansty plant near Coventry is the only dedicated electric vehicle manufacturing facility in the UK and also home to the company’s research, design and engineering development. Since its launch in 2018, more than 4,000 electric TX models have been sold worldwide and the company is expanding its product range with the launch of a new electric van, VN5, later this year.
