The elegance of wood: Pedrali presents the new Héra Lounge

Héra Lounge echoes the silhouette of the armchair designed in 2019 by Patrick Jouin and widens a collection of armchairs that draw inspiration from wood, the ultimate natural raw material which the french designer chose to preserve by giving it an extremely refined, fluid form.

As the designer explains: “Wood is an amazing material, it’s the material of the future, it’s something which is growing, always growing and we have to take care of it. Every piece of wood is different and so we have designed a chair, an armchair, which I believe express the beauty of nature, the beauty of wood. when you will arrive in a room where is Héra Lounge I think you will see a piece of nature, a piece of what nature can make and how we can use it.”

A clean #design, delicate, subtle forms, and attention to detail make Héra particularly suitable for use in leading international hotels but also in residential spaces.

Héra lounge embodies the concept of lightness fusing it with that of comfort and elegance. Made of ash wood, its backrest in curved solid wood is defined by an enveloping and sculptural band ends in rectangular legs with radial angles. The polyurethane foam seat supported by elastic belts maximises the sense of cosiness.

The wooden elements of Héra lounge are FSC® C114358 certified and finished with water-based coatings composed mostly of plant-derived resins. The use of raw materials sourced from certified forests and of these organic coatings is a guarantee of Pedrali’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

Héra Lounge was among the protagonists of “L'anima: du trait à l'objet” an exhibition by #patrickjouin iD, staged from 6 to 23 September in the RBC Mobilier #showroom in Paris on the occasion of the #parisdesignweek 2022. The exhibition included drawings, prototypes and products designed by #patrickjouin for #pedrali during these nine years of collaboration, testifying to the desire, to an appropriate proposal to the selection of materials, as well as their consumption and durability.

"What I love most about this product is the fact that it has succeeded in making such a rigid material comfortable, the result of combining the Italian company's know-how with the best craft joinery techniques." (Patrick Jouin)

Beauty, tradition and innovation

Pedrali is an Italian company that produces contemporary furniture for contract and residential. The collection is the result of a careful and accurate research aimed to create functional and versatile industrial #design products made of metal, plastic materials, wood as well as upholstery. Seating, tables, complements and lighting exclusively manufactured in Italy through a #design process which combines tradition and innovation, engineering excellence and creative brilliance.  The “100% Made in Italy” philosophy becomes real through the internal production in the headquarters of #mornicoalserio (Bergamo), where the automated warehouse designed by architect Cino Zucchi is based, and in the wood division in Manzano (Udine).

The high quality and respect for the environment represent long-established practices. This is proved by the use of water-based coatings, made principally from plant-derived resins, for the wooden products, and by the certifications ISO 9001 for quality management system, ISO 14001 for environmental management system, FSC® C114358 for the use of timber from certified forests and Greenguard for low emissions of toxic substances. In 2020 the company has presented its first collections made from recycled polypropylene and completed the study on Corporate Carbon Footprint which allows an overview of the impact of the production cycle on the environment, obtaining the certification UNI EN ISO 14064-1:2019 in 2021. The experimentation of production technologies, the use of different materials and the cooperation with many designers have allowed #pedrali to achieve important awards such as the Compasso d'Oro ADI for Frida chair.
