Monoferments, innovation hub by Monostudio Associati, will be presented at Edit 2022

“Semplicemente circolare” a palette of “simply circular” materials designed for restaurants, friendly with the planet, #people and society will be presented at Edit an innovative #design fair that will took place from 7 to 9 October 2022 in Naples.

Founded in 2005 by #elisaevaso and #lucaguglieri MONOSTUDIO ASSOCIATI is based in Milan. Their vision of #interiordesign is focused on human beings and the spaces that surround them.

Thus the purpose we set out for ourselves from the early stages of a project is the well-being of the final user.

The idea of focusing their work both on the human well being and the growing urgency to change their approach to every day work towards a more circular and sustainable practice led the architects to start the Monoferments project during 2020.

MONOFERMENTS came to life as an experimental research think lab for a more sustainable way to approach our aim of being friendly with planet, #people and society.

After a deep dive and investment in research, Elisa and Luca decided it was time to transform their vision into real materials.

Collecting waste for MONOFERMENTS to study and create a palettes of circular, sustainable, and biophilic materials for #interiordesign.

This innovative fusion of byproducts presents an evocative and imperfect composition, reflecting the inspiration from biophilia and nature.

The palette became possible through the dynamic collaboration with like-minded partners like Francescana Group and specifically Food for Soul - a non-profit association founded by Massimo Bottura and Lara Gilmore to combat food waste – by the idea of shearing food scraps for both tiles and dyes. Part of the income from the materials will be paid back to the organization in the form of a donation to support their projects.

Society Limonta Italian brand of household linen, known for the use of natural yarns, donated their wasted fabrics which Monoferments used to make the tablecloth and tapestry on display at Edit.

Both are created thanks to the skill of the artisan seamstresses of Molce Atelier - therapeutic tailoring studio based in Milan for victims of violence and those in vulnerable and insecure conditions.

On the occasion of Edit 2022, #monostudioassociati also invited the designers of Volupte Madrid with whom they share similar values of well being and circularity to participate in the communal "table" at the Edit #design fair. Volupte Madrid presents their "CERES" plates- a stoneware series that uses Mediterranean essence of orange peel, mussels and eggshells in their natural glazes. Volupte Madrid reworked the Monoferments construction waste recipe used in tiles to make it suitable for their production of a line of decorative products, including the “TELLUS” vase, made of construction waste and locally sourced clay from Segovian mountains.

The presented palette prompted us, #elisaevaso explains, to search for innovative natural and sustainable circular materials in daily practice, as well as a desire to #design new behaviors and promote the exchange of waste between companies. An interior made with this palette must be beautiful and make those who live there feel good, as well as be good for the planet. This palette will have the strength of beauty and optimism.
