Barcelona commits to sustainable mobility with 73 Renault Trucks electric vehicles
The city of Barcelona made a strong choice in favour of decarbonised urban mobility when awarding its latest public contract for municipal waste collection and maintenance. This contract was awarded in batches to several waste management sub-contractors who share the same sustainability goals for the city. The companies CLD Sorigué, Urbaser, and Valoriza (Sacyr Group) chose #renaulttrucks to provide 73 fully electric trucks that will soon hit the Catalan capital’s streets.
Barcelona has made a strong commitment to reducing its carbon footprint by requiring zero-emission trucks in its most recent public tender covering the city’s maintenance. With this order of 73 #renaulttrucks electric vehicles for cleaning and waste collection from CLD Sorigué, Urbaser, and Valoriza, the Catalan capital is improving quality of life thanks to silent, emissions-free collection while staking its place as a European model for decarbonisation.

Thanks to the diversity of its electric range and environmental expertise, #renaulttrucks was able to offer the ideal solution to this complex public tender. Rear loaders (single and dual-compartment), side loaders (right and left), sweeper-sprayer tankers, tipper and crane trucks, lifting hooks, and low-entry cabs for greater operator comfort: #renaulttrucks E-Tech D, D Wide, and D Wide LEC can be fitted with a wide variety of body designs to meet municipalities’ needs.
These all-electric trucks are being delivered in batches for gradual implementation, including a training period to teach operators about electric technology and driving techniques. The first batch, including rear loaders, sweeper-sprayers and a tipper, have been delivered and the vehicles are already hard at work in the city’s streets.
Thanks to its range of all-electric, ultra-versatile vehicles and extensive distribution and repair network, #renaulttrucks intends to maintain its market-leading position in the municipal vehicles segment.
