On 5th of December, Solaris and üstra Hannover City Transport have signed a contract for delivery of three electric buses Urbino 12. They will be equipped with a fast charging system using a roof-mounted pantograph. It is the first order for Solaris electric buses based on the new version of the Urbino city bus that had its world premiere at this year’s IAA exhibition, which coincidentally took place in Hannover. Exquisitely modern and clean, the buses will arrive in Hannover at the end of 2015. The new 12-metre Urbino electric for üstra is fitted with the ZF AVE 130 electric drive with axle-mounted motors. This concept frees up space for passengers and significantly reduces the weight of the vehicle. Additional weight savings result from the underlying design of the new Urbino, which is several hundred kilograms lighter than its predecessor.
