Volkswagen of America, Inc. is proud to announce that Car and Driver magazine has named the 2023 #volkswagengolfgti, Golf R, ID.4, Jetta GLI, Taos, and Tiguan to the magazine’s Editors’ Choice list for 2023.

“We’re honored to see so many of our models named to the Editors’ Choice list,” said #heinschafer, Senior Vice President, Sales, #volkswagen of America, Inc. “These vehicles represent the best of what #volkswagen offers and what Americans love to drive. Their combination of smart packaging, safety features, and great driving dynamics, all at a great value, is something we’re proud of, and we’re happy to see them recognized.”

The Car and Driver 2023 Editors’ Choice list consists of 125 vehicles—cars, trucks, crossovers, and SUVs—out of more than 400 models that Car and Driver editors tested, rated and ranked this year. Each year, Car and Driver conducts rigorous instrumented testing on hundreds of vehicles. Those results and the following criteria are used to choose the vehicles for the Editors’ Choice list: the rankings each vehicle earns within its market segment versus competitors, how well it fulfills its intended mission, and editors' subjective evaluations of each vehicle's performance. Only vehicles that are on sale in 2023, and those that the staff has hands-on driving experience with, are eligible for Editors’ Choice.

Volkswagen Golf GTI
“The supreme driving delights of a Golf GTI come wrapped in a compact package of practicality and value.” – Car and Driver

The Golf GTI has defined the term “hot hatch” since its debut in 1976 in Europe and 1983 in the U.S. The eighth-generation icon embodies the very same formula—refinement, style, power, and playful performance.

For the 2023 model year, the Golf GTI is available in four trims—S, SE, Autobahn from the prior model year, along with a limited-production 40th Anniversary Edition, which slots between S and SE. After receiving a full redesign for MY22, the Mk8 GTI adds standard performance LED headlights, LED foglights with Active Cornering Lights, and minor cosmetic changes.

MSRP for the 2023 Golf GTI starts at $30,530 for the S with the six-speed manual transmission and $31,330 for the S with the seven-speed DSG® automatic. Destination is $1,095.

Volkswagen Golf R
“Recommended daily dose of horsepower and torque, exquisite handling behavior, any excuse to drive one is the right one.” – Car and Driver

The Mk8 Golf R continues to evolve a legacy of understated performance first pioneered for the 2004 model year, with the introduction of the rally-inspired Golf R32. Two decades later, the fifth iteration of Volkswagen’s performance halo ups the ante with new race-inspired content and premium features.

The Golf R is available in two trims for the 2023 model year—the fully-equipped Golf R from the prior model year, along with a limited-production Golf R 20th Anniversary Edition. After receiving a full redesign for MY22, the Mk8 Golf R adds minor cosmetic changes.

MSRP for the 2023 Golf R starts at $44,740 for the six-speed manual transmission and $45,540 for the seven-speed DSG automatic. Destination is $1,095.

Volkswagen ID.4
“Practical and cargo-friendly cabin, decent driving range with the larger battery pack, quiet when cruising.” – Car and Driver

The ID.4 is Volkswagen’s first all-electric SUV and the brand’s first global #ev. Built on Volkswagen’s MEB electric vehicle architecture, it marries the strengths of a purpose-built #ev with performance, packaging and value, features that have marked the brand for decades.

The 2023 ID.4 offer structure is simple, with three trims—Standard/Pro, S, and S Plus—and the option of 62 kWh and 82 kWh batteries and rear-wheel- or all-wheel-drive. Modern design pairs with high-tech features, like standard IQ.DRIVE® advanced driver assistance technology and a smart infotainment system, using voice and touch. Three years of 30-minute fast charging sessions with Electrify America is included at no additional cost.

The well-equipped ID.4 Standard with a 62 kWh battery starts at an MSRP of $38,995. MSRP for the ID.4 Pro with rear-wheel drive starts at 43,995, and the all-wheel-drive ID.4 Pro starts at $47,795. Destination charges for all ID.4 models is $1,295.

Volkswagen Jetta GLI
“An engine with a kick, confident handling, civilized ride.” – Car and Driver

The Jetta has defined affordable German engineering for more than four decades, spending more than three of them as Volkswagen’s best-selling model. The torchbearer was refreshed for 2022, with new technology and styling elevating both the value-oriented Jetta and the sporty Jetta GLI.

The Jetta is available in four trims for model year 2023—S, Sport, SE, and SEL. The 2023 GLI is offered in one fully-equipped Autobahn trim. After receiving a refresh for MY22, the Jetta family adds minor cosmetic changes and remote start for SE models.

MSRP for the 2023 GLI Autobahn starts at $31,585 for the six-speed manual transmission and $32,385 for the seven-speed DSG automatic. Destination is $1,095 for all Jetta family models.

Volkswagen Taos
“With an attractively low base price, the #volkswagentaos offers big fuel mileage along with big space for such a small SUV.” – Car and Driver

The #volkswagentaos brings bold exterior design, a practical but refined interior, advanced technology, and available 4Motion® all-wheel drive to the compact SUV space. Slotting below the Tiguan, Taos offers Volkswagen’s signature driving dynamics, high quality, and smart packaging in a smaller package with a lower price tag.

For the 2023 model year, the Taos is available in three trims—S, SE, and SEL. In the first year following the new model introduction, Taos adds additional content to every trim level. Front Assist (Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Monitoring), Blind Spot Monitor, and Rear Traffic Alert are now standard. The S 4Motion upgrades from 17-inch wheels to 18-inch wheels, IQ.DRIVE driver assistance technology is added to SE models as standard equipment, and SEL models receive the panoramic sunroof as standard.

MSRP for the 2023 Taos starts at $24,155 for the S with front-wheel drive and $26,495 for the S with 4Motion all-wheel drive. Destination is $1,295.
